Good evening, loves. How are you all? I hope you’re feeling better than I am. I am sitting in my bed with the laptop in sweats and a t shirt. It’s Friday. I just spent about three hours finishing a book I got yesterday. Normally I would be ecstatic about these conditions. But I have a terrible cold. 😦 I think I’m on the end of it, though.
Also, today I had to get a sports physical in order to play sports this year. Ick! Hate those!
Anywho, today’s spectacular post is going to be about My Summer Reading. Or lack thereof. 😉 Just kidding, just kidding. I actually read a LOT this summer! But I also hung out with friends a lot. (Eww, socializing.) Buuuuut I may have set my expectations a little too high.
What can I say? People don’t usually want to hang out with me so much! 😛 Something about the way I start reading when I get bored. Even if they are babbling about their current boyfriend or something like that. Like am I supposed to care? To relate? Cuz I really don’t. Sorry sorry.
My Summer Read List:
Only read Delirium, the first book. I absolutely LOATHED the ending, and so I didn’t make an effort to find the rest. Oops.
THIS WAS THE BOOK I WANTED TO READ THE MOST. And guess what? I NEVER GOT TO READ IT. *le wail of disappointment. I will have to get my hands on it soon.
See Delirium^ Hated ending, only read first book, etc.
I really wanted to read this too. But unfortunately, I never got to it. The movie trailer for it looks amazing!
I actually read this one! I really enjoyed it: it had a unique plotline that readers could relate to and that sucked you in right away.
Oh my feels. This book tore my heart out and shredded it like cheese in a cheese grater. You MUST read it. And the movie is coming out in a couple months! EEP!
I loved this book! It may be my favorite Sarah Dessen book, and I ADORE her books! I could really relate to the basketball relationship with her father. I loved the setting and back story. A shelf-topper for sure. (I put all my favorite books on the top shelf of my book shelf..)
I really enjoyed the setting, characters, and ending of this book. The ending was so full of hope. And pie. Just loved it.
Excellent. The necklace? AGGHHH MY FEELS
Though I found the main character male just a little too stereotypical.
I liked this book. It was a good read. Not my favorite by her, though. I found Wes very insightful and charming; and thought her old bf was a total not-so-nice word. A worthy read for sure! XD
It was never at the library, and it wasn’t at the top of my “To Buy” list.
I love the sunglasses, the portrait, and Norman.. Gosh I just love Norman. He’s just a big teddy bear beach bum sweetheart.
Though I have to say, my favorite character by far was Isabel. She’s just so strong and such a spitfire. Like I just love her.
Kind of like another Isabelle Ik…
Eh. Good but not great. The beginning showed massive promise. Then I feel like the book just seemed to take on a whole new perspective. It was good, but not great.
This book was about 12 year olds. Needless to say I wasn’t hooked and never finished it.
- The Summer I turned Pretty series
Never got farther than the first one. I kind of lost interest.
I want to read this so bad. Like ugh.
LOVED THE MOVIE AND THE BOOK. Hopefully you will be seeing a post about that soon. 😉
I want this. 😦
Hurrah! A book that I actually read! That was starting to get depressing..
This book I had mixed feelings about. It was really good at some points and only so so at others.
Also actually read this one. It took me forever to get into the book, but once I did; I found it very innocent and sweet. The ending was sad, though kind of expected.
Much better review on this book! It had a plotline that I enjoyed, though scoffed at when I began it. Once I was in the book, though, I couldn’t put it down. 🙂
I read the first two. I have mixed feelings on these books. On the one hand, they’re thrilling and have a unique storyline that is fun to contemplate. On the other, they’re extremely creepy, very confusing on the amount of characters, and have VERY long descriptions.
However, I’m sure that if I need something to read, I will get to the rest eventually.
- Heaven Looks A Lot Like The Mall
Hmm this book was recommended to me by a friend. I liked it, but the writing style.. Sometimes I loved it and others it just infuriated me. Kinda slow, but worth the read.
Eh. Worth reading if you’re into Sarah Dessen. But.. Not a fave.
Ooh! This book was fab! It was really interesting, and very Host-esque what with its different worlds and aliens and stuff. I had fun reading it! Though there could have been more sensory details.. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second one though!
AGH. I literally JUST finished the last book to this trilogy this morning. AND OH MY GOD I CRIED SO FRICKEN HARD NOOOOO WHY WOULD SHE DO THAT TO US CASSANDRA CLARE(the author) HOW COULD YOU THAT IS JUST TERRIBLE.
I LOVED this series. It was awesome, romantic, compelling, and fast.
HOWEVER. I really could have lived extremely happily WITHOUT the epilogue of the last book. 😦 Tragic crying ensued.
- THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES
NEW FAVORITE! 🙂 I have read all the books in this series, except for the last one, which has yet to come out, and I LOVED them! The Infernal Devices^^^ is actually the prequel series to these! These books are fast, unique, hilarious, and very full of incest! They kept me on my toes.
Never found it. 😦 Gonna have to add to Winter Read List. <— Guess I’m gonna make that a thing.
To be fair, this series was JUST recommended to me at the very end of the summer, so there was no time considering I was still obsessing over Mortal Instruments.
Also JUST recommended to me. By the same person. My friend Hannah has very good taste in books. 😀
I saw this review in the back of a Mortal Instruments book, not long before summer ended. The review said something along the lines of “Hunger Games set the bar for dystopian books. These may have RAISED that bar.”
So yeah, it sounded like a good read!! Going to have to add it to the newly though of Winter Read Liost. 🙂 I wonder how long THAT one will be!
And that, my friends, is the end of my acclaimed read list. I think my main problem was that I picked too many series. Not enough time for all the books in those series and stand alone books.
So, whether it was a success or failure is up to you guys, but I just have to say:
This read list is the best I’ve had by far. This summer, these books, have changed me a bit. 🙂 Every book gives me new perspective, and there were a lot in this list! Maybe all this reading will make me wiser.
Then again, maybe not. XD
May the odds be ever in your favor,
Never trust a duck,
and just have a fantabulous day.
