Thoughts While Watching the Hunger Games

Okay, so I watched this movie a LONG time ago, like, the year it came out in fact. But then I got this FABULOUS idea from Sara R., a.k.a teenfictionbooks on http://www.teenfictionbooks.wordpress.com (Check out her blog!!). The idea is “Thoughts While Watching the Hunger Games Movie.” You can see hers here. It’s probably way funnier than mine’s going to be, but what the hey!

Another note, I have a very sarcastic mindset; so beware.

Oh, one more thing, this post is going to be VERY similar to the one by emdance99 (blogger of All Things Hunger Games.. Mostly, www.booksdanceandblogs.wordpress.com, and my best friend!) We watched the movie together, and our minds kind of think alike, so they are going to be very ah, similar. (Already said that, I know.) So, without further ado:

My Thoughts While Watching the Hunger Games:

Yay!! Movie’s starting!

-Oh my God, Lionsgate. So beast.

“The Hunger Games.” –Yes, we know, movie people, move it along.

-Oh my God, I am so Team Seneca Crane’s Beard.

-Woah! Forgot about Prim’s screaming in the beginning. Dang.

-That’s not how I imagine Katniss’s singing voice. At all. No offense, Jennifer Lawrence.

-So everybody in District 12 watches Katniss as she runs by but she hunts in secret. That makes sense.

- This music is very action-inspiring. Du du du du…

-“Damn you, Gale!” Favorite Katniss/Gale moment in the movie. :D

-“Oh my God! Is this real??” No it’s fake, I gave you plastic bread!

-That is NOT how she got the dang pin! Unless Madge aged extraordinarily quickly… hmmm.. possible?

-Awkward mother/daughter moment for Katniss and her mom.

-(Before the reaping.) That’s one way to identify someone. Their blood. What happened to old-fashioned yearbook pictures??

-“May the odds be ever in your favor.” :D Oh how we love your Effie. So clueless.

-This video is crap. Peace. TOTALLY. So peaceful we have our children kill each other!

-*How old is President Snow? Like did he come up with that Hunger Games law?? Sorry random thoughts here.

-Katniss, um, looks and sounds kinda manly as she volunteers.. Now Gale is carrying a screaming Prim away… Adorable.

-Oh my God Peeta’s hair.. Noo… *moans pathetically

-Wasn’t Haymitch supposed to stagger on-stage, drunk? Aww I wish they hadn’t ignored that!

-(When Gale visits Katniss after reaping.) “I’m fine.” Total understatement, Katniss.

-What?? Gale’s cliffhanger was ignored!! No I love that part! It’s the first REAL hint that he has more than friendly feelings for her!

-“Embrace the probability of imminent death.” Good advice, Haymitch. What happened to “Stay alive”?

- LOL Haymitch’s foot!

-“THAT IS MAHOGANY!” –Silly Effie :D

-“Look at you. You just killed a placemat.” What did the placemat do to you, Katniss?

-Woah, and I thought the 80’s had weird fashion trends. These Capitol people are just a LITTLE scary..

-Yay Cinna! I think he was cast really well. He and Jennifer Lawrence are both great actors!

-(The Tribute’s Parade) Ew, Katniss’s hair… And Peeta’s hair… GROSS. And flames on their outfits=lame. Their entire bodies, excluding their faces, should be on fire. Just saying. Their special effects team could handle that, right?

-(In Katniss’s room at Capitol) Ooh! Let’s dress to match our furniture! Yay! I do LOVE her hair though.. Jealous!

-(Training Center) Foxface looks like she is just pressing random buttons.

-Rue’s a little knife thief. :D

-I imagine Peeta and Katniss much younger in the big Bread Scene. And the scene was WAY too short.

-Way to throw a pointy ball, Peeta. I’m so proud.

-(Individual Private Sessions with Gamemakers) Peeta was supposed to go first!

-Love this line: “Thank you for your consideration.” ;) Oh snap.

-Snow: “She shot an arrow at your pig.”

Seneca Crane: “Well, my apple, actually.”

-(Interviews) Katniss looks gorgeous, but the flames are lame. Again.

-Cato… Like the suit. :D

-Jennifer Lawrence is very good at acting all awkward in front of an audience. And spinning.

-“Do I smell like roses to you?” Why, do you want to?

-(After Peeta professes his love for first time) Ooh Katniss is starting a brawl! Poor, short Peeta just stands there.

-(On helicopter) That’s one way to put a tracker in! Gross!

-(Before Games with Cinna) Katniss is shaking like a Chihuahua. A Chihuahua stuck in the snow. In Antarctica.

-Huzzah! We are FINALLY in the Games! This movie is so dang quiet.. Kinda freaky.

-Lol, Gale sitting like a loner in the woods.

-Knife!

-I love how Katniss and Foxface run into each other, look up, then just run in opposite directions.

-Wow she found water very quickly. Way quicker than she did in the books.

-Oh, and she found food quickly, too. Nice.

-How they put the obstacles, mutts, and deaths in the sky is so cool! The Games’ control room is very high-tech. I love how they control EVERYTHING with the push of a button, the swipe of a finger, it’s awesome!

–I like how they show Claudius Templesmith and Caesar’s reactions. That’s something you don’t get in the book!

-FIRE! AH!

-Very smooth, Katniss. Jump out of a tree, trip, roll, and keep running.

-Careers: La la la, we love killing, hee hee hee, yaaay let’s all die… now everybody sing along!

-Ha! Cato is an epic fail at climbing!

-Cato: Instead of marshmallows, we roast swords. Yummy.

-That burn medicine looks suspiciously like Vaseline..

-Oh Glimmer! Gross! She was pretty too. Heh heh not anymore.

-Katniss’s world is pretty topsy-turvy. Woah, Caesar walking out of the trees, creepy!

-Ally time! Rue and Katniss, kicking butt together!

-Rue and Katniss sitting in a tree, K-I-L-L-I-N-G.

-Katniss’s thoughts while blowing up the Careers’ supplies: Cut bag, apples fall, big BOOM!

-That explosion was beast!

-Ugh silence.

-Uh-oh Cato’s mad. SNAP! I don’t want to get on Cato’s bad side. If he has one.. ;)

Moving on.

-Oh my God. I hate how close Katniss comes to saving Rue. She just fails. L

-For a 13-14 year old girl, or any age, the girl who plays Rue is an AMAZING actress.

-I like how it shows the three-fingered salute and uprising in District 11. Cool.

-Haymitch scheming for his two star-crossed lovers! Woot woot!

-Go find him Katniss! Go find Peeta!

-(When Katniss finds Peeta) That’d be so creepy.. A rock grabs your ankle..

-“Hi.” Smooth, Peeta.

-Poor Gale. It really sucks to be him right now.

-“You call that a kiss?” Come on Haymitch, she’s new to this.

-“I watched you walk home every day.” Um, stalkerish much, Peeta?

-Awww not QUITE how I imagined the kiss, but still really sweet. J

-Once again, it really sucks to be Gale right now.

-Wasn’t she supposed to drug Peeta? Sad they left that out. Especially “Who can’t lie Peeta?” –Katniss. :D

-Those backpacks remind me of vacuum bags for some reason..

-KNIFE!

-Boom! Go Thresh!

-Once again, Vaseline-like medicine.

-Well Peeta’s leg was a lot less of a problem in the movie.

-LOL Josh Hutcherson is so short!

-“Damn you Peeta!” How romantic.

Does she say that to everybody?!

- These mutts look like bulldogs. Lame much?

-CRAP! That mutt scared me!! I kind of yelped.. really loud.

- Cato and Peeta fighting! Sweet! Gotta admit, that MAY be slightly better than the book.

-Eww Cato’s mouth. BLOOOOD

-I think Cato has gone a little cray-cray..

-Oh my God that’s a terrible way to die. Thank you Katniss, for ending his life quickly. (Cato.)

-That was a short night. They dragged it on and ON in the book.

-Once again, Josh Hutcherson is SO SHORT!!!

-You’re both about to die, and you touch her braid Peeta?? SERIOUSLY?

Lol, Katniss looks at Peeta like: “Dude get your hands off my braid.”

-Mr. Beard is a goner.

-Oh my God, Snow made Crane commit suicide. How.. creatively inhumane.

-Katniss’s dress.. love the POOF.

-“What a lovely pin.” Dramatic duh duh duh DUUUUH

-Train ride home. Is Katniss going to tell Peeta that she was pretending during the Games?

-Yay Gale and Katniss’s family! Gale must be pretty ticked..

-President Snow dramatically walking away.

-GREAT ENDING! Ensures people watching Catching Fire! Oh, that’s probably the point..

Whoo-hoo! Love Hunger Games! That was a great 2 hours and 22 minutes of my life!

I know it’s kind of ironic how my last post was all about how books are better than movies, and now I post one all about a movie. Just bear with me, okay? :P

Hope you enjoyed! Later,

Why Books Are Better Than Movies

So I’m a failure as a blogger. I was A WEEK LATE with this post. God, I’m so sorry.. how often do I say that? I just need to stop making promises I guess. Another reason it’s so late is I had the entire thing saved as a draft, I was just going to make some final edits and adjustments before publishing it. But for some reason my draft didn’t save all the way, like only a couple of sentences were on it when I opened it. So I was, as you may have guessed, ticked, and put off re-typing it all for a whole another day. Then my sister took my laptop for homework, and yesterday I was too busy. Oh well.

Ok! So today I wanted to talk about all the ways books are better than movies. There is A LOT I could say on this subject, and not much time for me to say it all. But hey, I can try! (Oh, by the way, they’re not really in any particular order.)

So reason number 1:

  • Feelings and Reactions

This reason’s easy. In a book, emotions are more raw and perceptible than in any movie. You get to see and FEEL the characters’ reactions. To me, this is especially true when the book is when it’s written in first person point of view. If it’s extremely descriptive and well-written, you can almost imagine you are the person, or at least you know the person very well. In a book, you can see how people react to things or their thoughts during a certain event or scene. For example, during a kissing scene, a book can tell you everything the characters were thinking or wondering during or after the kiss. If the girl liked or resented it, or maybe if the boy had been planning it for some time, EVERYTHING. Where as all a movie can tell you about a kiss is passion. And some actors can’t even accomplish that. Which leads me to my next reason.

DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS MOVIE

Reasons number 2-4 are all about movies ruining my favorite books. :D
Reason number 2:

  • Um, stating the obvious here, but movies wrecking my favorite books. Moving on.

Reason number 3:

  • Movie People Getting my Favorite Characters Wrong

Poor casting can WRECK a good story for me. If the character isn’t what I imagined them looking like, or maybe if they’re just plain a crappy actor, it could just ruin the whole movie! And by ruining the movie, you turn people away from the book. End of story.

Reason number 4:

  • Deleting/Getting Scenes Wrong

“That’s not how it happened!” HOW many times do us book nerds say that in a movie based on our favorite book?? Or when you’re like, “Where the hell did this scene go?? What about when ‘so-and-so’ saw his brother??” (<—Lame, made-up example there.) When a movie does this, they could be getting rid of key points or plotlines! Or maybe just plain funny parts!

And reason number 5:

  • Reading helps your brain. TV makes you fat.

Heehee, ok, so not my best reason, but it IS true. I’m a straight A+ student, and I credit most of that to all the reading I did at an early age, and now of course. Reading, especially reading NEW things, is AMAZING for the brain. And sitting in front of a TV, what does that do for you?! Haha

Ok sorry it was short and super late. Just don’t expect things from me I guess. :( Maybe I will get better with practice! I just have to set aside an hour a week to blog, how hard can it be?!

Lol later,

Ceej

I’ve been thinking..

First of all, unfortunately, this is not the very interesting post I promised. Just a quick question!

I’ve been thinking.. (Yes, sometimes me thinking can be dangerous, but this is just a harmless thought!) I kind of want to change my URL address. I only just figured out how.

How ever, I don’t want it to be harder for people to find my blog or for anything else to change. I need some help guys! I could either keep the URL the way it is, ceej3bball.wordpress.com, OR I was thinking of myrandomstuff.com. That way it actually goes with my title instead of my name, you know? XD I was kind of confused when I first made the blog..

So what do you guys think? You can:

  • Like it, which will say you want me to change the blog URL
  • Comment with your answer!!
  • Or take this poll:

(I allowed repeat voting. So if you choose the poll, know you can vote more than once!)

Please help!

I’m baaaaaack!

Huzzah! After many hours of driving, I am back from Florida! I went with my family, which consists of my two younger sisters and my parents. (Yes people, camping with your family can be cool. I do it, so obviously it is.(Cool))

I have a confession to make:

My family and I didn’t rough it, as many of you probably were expecting when I said “camping.” Instead of a tent and no bathroom, we decided it was just going to be a relaxing family vacation in our motor-home. Trust me, car rides are so much more bearable when you can get up, walk around, get some food out of the fridge, lay in your bed, go to the bathroom, etc. It made the 26 hours driving fly by! Well, actually, no it didn’t, but that’s okay. :D

And now for my own amusement I’m going to show you some pics of my trip:

Our amazing motor-home:

Sorry I couldn’t take a better picture while we were there, but there was something behind me so I couldn’t back up far enough. This is really only half of our motor-home. It’s actually about 32 feet long. Oh, and that’s my little 8 year old sister Jordan being a dork in there. ;)

Some neat things I saw:

Dolphin Fins This is SUPPOSED to be a picture of some of the dolphins that were swimming in the area. If you zoom in, you can see their dorsal fins. We unfortunately did not get to go swimming with them that day, for it was too cold and windy and they were just passing through. :( And we didn’t see any more dolphins throughout the rest of the trip. Next time! Oh, and there’s Jordan AGAIN photo-bombing my pictures.

Palm TreeA totally beast palm tree that I couldn’t resist taking a picture of! Bear with me, I live way up north, and, as you might be aware of, we don’t have any cool palm trees. In fact, we don’t have any palm trees at all!

GEBut oh no, the ocean wasn’t the only attraction! There was also the POOL! Whoopee! This also shows how much we WEREN’T roughing it, so sorry for disappointing any one on that. XD

Okay so you were probably really bored while reading through this, so I will bring this post to an end. You guys don’t check out my blog to see my travels and sisters. I will post a WAY more interesting post some time between this week and next week. That’s a promise! :)

Ceej

Greetings from Florida!!!

Hey guys!! So, I meant to say this in advance, but quite obviously you guys know that I’m busy and a scatterbrain, so oh well! I’m in Florida! (Just btw, I don’t live here, so I’m enjoying the sun!) This is probably the only post I’m going to be able to make while I’m here. So for the next week or so, don’t miss me too much! Haha :D

Miss ya!
